Quick Summary

How thorough pre-shipment inspection ensures consistent quality for your knitwear orders before they leave the factory.

Most factories perform random sampling inspection (AQL), checking only a percentage of garments. But at JIERQI Clothing, every single garment undergoes visual inspection before packing. Here is why this matters and how we do it. This article explains the inspection process and how it protects your brand.

The Difference Between AQL and 100% Inspection

AQL Sampling (Industry Standard)

100% Visual Inspection (Our Standard)

What We Check on Every Garment

Visual Inspection (100%)

For each garment, our QC team checks:

  1. Overall appearance: Shape, drape, finishing
  2. Stitch quality: No dropped stitches, consistent tension
  3. Seam finishing: Linking quality, no gaps or puckering
  4. Color consistency: Against approved sample
  5. Cleaning: No loose threads, oil stains, or marks
  6. Trims: Buttons, zippers, labels correctly attached
  7. Packing: Correct folding, polybag, carton packing

Measurement Verification (AQL Sample)

We also verify measurements on a random sample:

Our Inspection Process

Stage 1: In-Line Inspection

Our QC team visits partner factories during production to catch issues early. This prevents defective batches from reaching the finishing stage.

Stage 2: First Piece Approval

The first finished piece from each production run is checked against the approved sample before bulk production continues.

Stage 3: Pre-Shipment Inspection

Once production is complete:

  1. Garments are laid flat on inspection tables
  2. Each piece is visually inspected front and back
  3. Measurements verified on AQL sample
  4. Defective pieces are tagged and separated
  5. Passed pieces proceed to packing

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about technical guide.

What does gauge mean in knitwear?
Gauge refers to the number of needles per inch on a knitting machine. Higher gauge = finer knit (12GG-14GG for lightweight tops). Lower gauge = chunkier knit (3GG-5GG for oversized sweaters). Mid-range 7GG-9GG is the most versatile for classic sweaters. Full gauge guide.
What is AQL 2.5 in garment inspection?
AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) 2.5 means accepting up to 5 defective units per 315-piece batch. It's the international standard for garment quality control (ISO 2859). Defects are classified as critical, major, or minor. Read about AQL.
What is pre-shipment inspection?
Pre-shipment inspection checks finished garments for defects before shipping. Can be AQL random sampling (statistical) or 100% visual inspection. Every garment is checked against size specs, construction quality, stitching, and finishing. Inspection guide.
